Aloha, I’m Michelle Becerra

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in Hawaiʻi and a Spanish-speaking therapist, dedicated to supporting individuals, couples, and families in navigating life’s challenges.

Growing up in New York, I was surrounded by rich diversity and learned early on that every person, couple, and family carries their own unique story and perspective. At the same time, I noticed that some differences were more celebrated than others—an experience that led me to reflect deeply on what it truly means to belong.

These early observations sparked my curiosity about human behavior, relationships, and the stories that often go unheard, which continues to guide my work as a therapist.

🌿 My Approach to Therapy

I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus in Marriage and Family Therapy, and my work is grounded in understanding how family, culture, environment, and personal history shape each person’s experiences and choices.

My approach is collaborative, reflective, and rooted in authenticity. I draw from:

• Narrative Therapy

• Internal Family Systems (IFS)

• DBT-informed skills (for emotion regulation and mindfulness)

• Family Systems

This allows me to support clients in both exploring deeper patterns and developing practical tools for everyday challenges.

As a Spanish-speaking therapist, I offer culturally responsive care for individuals and families who feel more comfortable communicating in Spanish or who are navigating cultural identity, family dynamics, and cross-cultural experiences.
